For Students in Crisis

Daytime Crisis Walk-ins

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis during normal business hours, you may walk-in to CAPS (1500 WSC) during our business hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and ask to see a crisis counselor.

24-hour On-Call Therapist

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis after 4 p.m. or before 8 a.m., CAPS has a psychologist on call 24 hours a day. Please contact University Police at (801) 422-2222 and ask to speak to the psychologist on duty. University Police will call the counselor on duty who will return your call, typically within 10 minutes or less.

Emergency Room

If you would prefer not to talk to a CAPS psychologist, or if you feel you are in imminent danger, please check in to the nearest emergency room. The closest emergency room to BYU is located at Utah Valley Hospital (1034 N. 500 W., Provo, UT 84604; 801-357-2130)
