Externships

BYU CAPS offers four externship training opportunities each year. These are paid positions and are 20 hours/week. CAPS typically has 2 externs from BYU's clinical psychology PhD program and 2 externs from BYU's counseling psychology PhD program. The externship tends takes place during the doctoral students 4th year and is meant to be a precursor to the doctoral internship. Clinical training opportunities during Sp/Su are offered to externs, as available. Externs conduct individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, attend team meetings, attend clinical/in-service training meetings, and receive intensive supervision.
